Spiced Mulled Apple Herbal Tea
Warm, fragrant, and full of comforting fall flavors, this caffeine-free herbal tea combines fresh apples, cinnamon, ginger, and orange peel with a soothing rooibos or chamomile base. Naturally sweet and perfect for a chilly autumn day.
Prep Time: 3 minutes | Simmer Time: 8–10 minutes | Steep Time: 5 minutes | Yield: 1 mug (8–10 oz)
Ingredients
-
1¼ cups (10 oz) filtered water
-
1 tea bag (or 1 tbsp loose) rooibos or chamomile
-
3–4 thin slices fresh apple (Honeycrisp or Gala)
-
1 strip (2-inch) fresh orange peel (white pith removed)
-
1 small Ceylon cinnamon stick
-
2 thin coins fresh ginger root
-
1–2 tsp raw honey or pure maple syrup
Directions
-
Simmer the fresh aromatics: In a small saucepan, combine water, fresh apple slices, orange peel, Ceylon cinnamon stick, and ginger coins over medium-high heat. As soon as it reaches a gentle boil, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 8–10 minutes until golden and fragrant.
-
Steep the herbal tea (off heat): Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add your rooibos tea bag or loose chamomile flowers directly into the hot liquid. Cover and steep for 5 minutes off the heat to preserve delicate floral notes and essential oils without bitterness.
-
Strain, sweeten & enjoy: Pour through a fine-mesh strainer directly into your mug. Stir in 1–2 teaspoons of raw honey or maple syrup while warm. Float a fresh apple slice and the cinnamon stick on top for a warm autumn presentation.
