In 1999, the foundation of Turnpaugh Health was laid with a singular vision: to deliver unparalleled care to our patients. This journey, initiated out of a deep-seated commitment to health and well-being, was fueled by a consistent leaning towards functional medicine, recognizing the profound impact of lifestyle changes on health. Our path was further defined by personal encounters with health challenges within my own family, including Lyme disease, MS, Fragile X Syndrome, and allergies. These experiences sharpened my resolve to delve deeper into the mechanisms of these conditions, enriching our practice’s expertise and approach.
The year 2008 marked a significant turning point. A cycling accident led to a temporary halt in my ability to work, due to the need for multiple surgeries over 18 months. This period of adversity prompted pivotal changes in the business, providing an opportunity to deepen our engagement with functional medicine. It was also during this time that Heather joined the team, bringing a renewed focus on business operations, thereby allowing me to concentrate more fully on patient care.
Our growth trajectory saw a notable expansion in 2014 with the move to our current premises at 310 Lambs Gap Road, Mechanicsburg, PA. This period of expansion continued with the addition of Dr. Regina Smith to our team in 2015, and the establishment of our first Lancaster County facility in 2019, followed by the opening of new locations in Strasburg and, most recently, Richfield, Juniata County, in July 2023.
Our provider team has evolved to include a diverse range of healthcare professionals, from Medical Doctors and Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine to Chiropractors, Naturopathic Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and PhDs, all united by a shared commitment to the health and well-being of our patients. This team is supported by dedicated IV Nurses, Phlebotomists, Medical Assistants, Massage Therapists, Allergy Technicians, Nutritionists, and Patient Care Coordinators, each passionately serving our community’s needs.
