Paleo Sweet Potato and Turkey Chili Recipe

This hearty and satisfying chili is made with ground turkey, sweet potatoes, and a blend of warming spices for a delicious and comforting meal. It’s the perfect dish to warm you up on a chilly evening, and it’s also great for meal prepping and enjoying throughout the week.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1 can (14 oz.) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (14 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14 oz.) kidney beans, drained and rinsed (omit for strict paleo)
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the ground turkey to the pot and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces with a wooden spoon.
  3. Add the chopped sweet potatoes, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and kidney beans (if using). Stir to combine.
  4. Add the chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  5. Bring the chili to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Let the chili cook for 30-40 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender and the flavors have melded together.
  6. Season the chili with additional salt and pepper, if needed.
  7. Serve the Paleo Sweet Potato and Turkey Chili hot, garnished with fresh cilantro. Enjoy!
