Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner , Richfield, Mechanicsburg
Functional Medicine & Family Nurse Practitioner | Mechanicsburg · Richfield
Angela Brubaker came to functional medicine because conventional care kept leaving parts of the picture unaddressed. With training spanning nursing, functional nutrition, functional medicine, trauma and resiliency, and psychiatric care, she is building one of the most integrative clinical skillsets on the Turnpaugh team — and she’s not done yet.

Education & Experience
Angela earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University and her Master of Science in Nursing with Family Nurse Practitioner certification from the University of Maryland Baltimore. She has completed functional nutrition training through the Functional Nutrition Lab, functional medicine coursework through the Institute for Functional Medicine, and trauma and resiliency training through Eastern Mennonite University. She holds her psychiatric nurse practitioner certification — giving her the ability to address mental and emotional health as a core component of whole-person care, not an afterthought. She is also proficient in Spanish, extending her ability to connect with and serve a broader patient population.
Areas of Expertise
Angela works at the intersection of physical health, mental health, and environment — recognizing that chronic illness, trauma, and lifestyle are rarely separate conversations. Her trauma-informed approach to care adds a dimension that few functional medicine providers are formally trained in, and her psychiatric certification gives her real clinical tools to act on it.
Professional Contributions
Angela is actively engaged in expanding her clinical training across functional medicine, nutrition, and psychiatric care. Her work extends beyond the clinic — she is currently developing knowledge and experience in trauma-informed mental health evaluation and treatment to support healing at both the individual and community level.
Personal Life
Angela grew up in East Africa, an experience that shaped a lifelong love of languages, cultural diversity, travel, and global cuisine. When she’s not seeing patients, she works alongside her sisters on the family farm in Juniata County, Pennsylvania — growing specialty cut flowers, certified organic vegetables, and native plants and trees. It is hard to think of a more fitting outside life for someone whose clinical philosophy centers on the connection between people and their environment.
