You know how most TV series with long runs – no matter how good they are… no matter how much you like them – usually have at least one episode where it’s like the writers had no clue what to write & it’s just plain hard to watch?
This article might be much like that episode…
YOU’VE BEEN WARNED
I waited until my vacation to do my hike for this article but then storms got forecasted for the whole week & the spot I chose for the opportunity I did get to do a good hike ended up kind of blah & or meh… it was blah-meh… & cloudy so the pictures are also mostly blah-meh…
I shall try, nonetheless, to try to describe the rather uneventful hike with some flare, some spice, some HUZZAH (did I use huzzah correctly?), & see if I can make it somehow entertaining…
Here goes…

For our Destinations article today we shall be visiting the marvelous, fantastic, dare I say it? STUPENDOUS (not actually though) state park known as Locust Lake. DON’T WORRY. There were no locusts. There were however a lot of humans. Turns out the majority of the main path of the lake is full of campsites so if you like a lot of tents, campers, & screaming mini-humans (children) on your stroll this is the hike for you!
The path is nice & flat so it is an easy walk:
THE TRAIL
It’s paved & there’s trees! So many trees! See the trees? Cool right? Fun fact: they are made of wood. No really… they are. I chose a spot without campsites for this pic. Don’t be fooled. Most of it is covered in campsites.
Next up we have
LIFE SIZED LINCOLN LOGS
& someone made some kind of thing out of them. You know. The thing. THAT. I know you know what this is…
AHEM…
Moving on…
THE LAKE
Good news. There may not have been locusts but there truly was a lake. My lighting wasn’t great but it was a nice lake.
Speaking of lighting…
SUNSHINE
The sun shone brilliantly for a fleeting moment & I got a nice sunshiny picture. See? SUNLIGHT. I was almost done with the hike when this happened. Now for the most thrilling part of the whole thing:
THIS THING
Within the lake was this deep dark abyss surrounded by a cage meant to keep whatever horrific lake beast lurked within from escaping & terrorizing the park visitors.
Or it was a drain to keep the lake at a good level…
Believe what you want.
Well that’s that! Hope you enjoyed sharing in my journey to Locust Lake. Have a very merry whatever day it is you happen to be reading this.
THANK YOU FOR READING.
