“DESTINATIONS WITH DAN”
Lake Arrowhead, Virginia
Over the mountains & through some state lines; to my grandparents place I was going to go. My family was planning a visit to my grandparents in the late morning into the afternoon so I figured I would take the opportunity to take a side trip & get you some pictures. I got up a little after 5am to get ahead of the rest of the family so I could do the entire hike before they made it down. I’ve visited this destination a handful of times when down in Virginia to see them & I thought it would be a nice little spot to share; so with no more delay, let me present: Lake Arrowhead!
THE VIEW FROM CLOSE TO THE PARKING AREA (& A MINI BEACH)
Not too far from the parking area; past a few pavilions & a stage this will be 1 of your 1st views. That tiny little spot of sand is a beach. Who needs the ocean right? Here you can have sand, water, & a mountain view. Bonus: No sharks.
A STAGE
Ever outside & randomly feel the need to give an inspirational speech to a bunch of random strangers? Well fortunately, there is a stage here for just such an occasion. You give all the speeches you want.
A NICE PLACE TO SIT
Do you like sitting more than hiking? This is just a little ways from the parking area & has a great view. You can kick back, relax, maybe eat a delicious sandwich or something while looking over the water.
THE WALKING AREA ON THE LEFT
This is flat, wide open, & you get the best views of the lake along this stretch.
THE TRAIL ON THE RIGHT
You can do a loop around the lake if you keep going. Eventually you will reach a narrow trail that will lead you back around to the parking area. This is a nice little trail but it is only 1 person wide for the most part & there’s a few steep spots & lots of roots sticking up just waiting for an opportunity to trip you so if you are the type to trip over carpet or air; maybe stick to the area in the last picture.
THE LAKE
Very picturesque. Very relaxing. It’s the type of view you could spend hours soaking in (pun intended). Not sure why it’s called Lake Arrowhead though… I personally don’t feel its shape is particularly similar to an arrowhead. Just saying.
A TREE
Look, it’s a squirrel !!! Wait… what was the subject of this picture again?
1 OF MANY ATTEMPTS TO GET A HALF DECENT SELFIE
& this is me; staring off into the distance. “What am I looking at?” you may ask. The world may never know.
