Howdy. Today’s article is going to take you to the location of my favorite hike I’ve ever done. It’s in the Poconos & considered the “Niagara of Pennsylvania”. To give you an idea of how much I love this place; I’ll have you know that I have been to the actual Niagara Falls & although it is far more grand (if that’s a good way to say it); I like Bushkill Falls far more. I took 389 photos during this hike & had a hard time choosing which photos to choose for this article because the place is just so overwhelmingly beautiful. I have chosen 18 to share with you today. This is still over the regular 10 or less I try to stick to but… what can I say? I just couldn’t trim any more & feel like I was doing this destination justice.
Starting off we have:
A SIGN
When you first start your descent there will be a sign explaining the various trail options. I suggest the red trail because you will miss out on some of the experience if you take the other colors but with all the steps it can be a bit exhausting so if you prefer an easier hike feel free to choose another option. As you hike you will see several waterfalls; almost constantly hear the soothing roar of rushing water; & enjoy the fresh air coming off the water. As an added bonus, if it’s Autumn, the colors are beautiful in the surrounding trees &, if it’s Summer, the mist from the bigger waterfall (if there has been enough rain) helps to cool you down. As you hike you will be on:
THE TRAIL PLATFORMS
A large portion of the trail (or all if you take a short trail option) is going to have these walkways. It’s really beautiful the way these wooden platforms weave their way down to, along, & over the water. If you do take the red trail, you will have a stretch of trail that doesn’t have the platforms:
THE PLATFORMLESS TRAIL
There is a sizable stretch of trail that is pretty basic but it does follow the water much of the time so it’s still very pretty. It also gives you a break from all the stairs. Moving on; of course the focus of this destination is
THE FALLS
Disclaimer… some of these are small enough they may be rapids… I officially title them minifalls for the sake of this article…
The falls will be scattered throughout the trail & are the focus of the hike. They are spaced out nicely so you shouldn’t get bored if you are only there for the waterfalls. The whole hike is absolutely stunning though.
I JUST LIKE THIS PICTURE
It didn’t really fit the other picture titles but I wanted to include it.
Moving along…
A PICTURE TAKEN BY A RANDOM PERSON
I asked some random person to take this for me. They did an OK job of it. Thank you random person.
Sidenotes:
The land is privately owned so you do have to pay to get on the trails
– There are some gift shops & food at the top before entering, should you wish to visit any of those
