Heather is a graduate of West Perry High School who began her career in healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant in Home Health Care. She advanced her career at Select Specialty Hospital where she met Dr. Ayer and Dr. Diamond. Inspired by her interactions with these professionals, she joined Fresenius as a hemodialysis technician, receiving training and earning her Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) certification. Heather devoted over a decade to dialysis technology, a role she loved for its impact and challenges, though she eventually sought a position with more flexible hours to better suit her life as a mother.
While pregnant with her son Wyatt, Heather furthered her education at the US Career Institute by completing her Clinical Medical Assistant course. She gained her clinical experience at UPMC in Family Practice and achieved her Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification in 2018. Since then, she has worked in various medical specialties, including Family Practice, OB/GYN, Cardiovascular, and Pulmonary, enhancing her credentials with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Heather also served as a Medical Assistant and Surgical Technician in Cardiology and the Vein Center, specializing in procedures related to Venous Insufficiency.
The challenges she faced in traditional medicine led her to seek alternative approaches, ultimately bringing her to Turnpaugh Health. Here, Heather has found a professional home that aligns with her values and interests in healthcare.
Outside of work, Heather’s son Wyatt, who turns seven in April, is a vibrant part of her life. He is her shadow and mini-me, sharing her love for the outdoors, camping, sports, and animals. Together, they enjoy hiking, visiting zoos, and camping and fishing trips.
Heather is currently enrolling at Central Penn for a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management to further her education and support the growth of Turnpaugh Health as it expands and evolves.
