Shelly joined our team in 2019 as an infusion nurse in our Mechanicsburg office. She has been a nurse since 2009, previously working in a VA outpatient clinic and in Home Health.
Her journey with alternative medicine began in 2012 when autoimmune disease and chronic pain developed during her second pregnancy. After years of suffering with no help from doctors, a new friend encouraged her to research the Paleo and AIP diets. Desperate for relief, she spent hundreds of hours researching and finally took the plunge with the help of the internet and a few books. In 2014, she moved from Hawaii to PA and found Turnpaugh Health & Wellness shortly thereafter. She was relieved to find the kind of doctors she had only read about, and she was thrilled to be able to get more help & support for the medical issues of her whole family.
In 2017, Shelly developed acute Lyme disease with co-infections and began treatment with us. After trying multiple treatment options over a couple years, she felt the biggest change occurred after having regular Myers Cocktail IVs. Within a couple months of feeling more improvement, she jumped at the opportunity to join our team. Her favorite part of her job is being able to encourage patients who are in the same or similar situations that she was and give them hope that improving their own health and wellness is possible.
Her decision to be a nurse has always been based in her desire to help people. Since discovering in 2014 how magnetic therapy jewelry has significantly benefited herself and numerous friends and family, it became a passion of hers to help hundreds of others find relief with magnetic fields. The display of magnetic jewelry in our lobby is designed and made by Shelly.
Shelly is married to Mike, and she homeschools their children, Micah and Kailani. Both children were born in Hilo, Hawaii, where the family lived for 5 years, before they relocated to Mechanicsburg in 2014. Her favorite pastimes include traveling and camping with her family, flower gardening, loving on her pets, serving in her church, playing keyboard, and singing with her church music team.
